Hi, Elder Yong, an interesting thought flashed across my mind as i heard my sisters sharing about their job life.
As the saying goes "First impression counts". Well, this phrase do have its validity and reality in this world, and i dare say it is really very impactful among humanity.
What is our first impression when a dirty, old man stand in front of us, begging for money, or mumbling something that is inaudible to us? i would think that most would have in mind a dirty, ruggard person; some would even not treat him/ her as human.. Very sad indeed that human are most often judged or be judged according to the first impression or looks.
Would ask myself: What if the old man suddenly pops up some words of profoundness and wisdom or suddenly draw out a large gold bar from his pocket?... i couldn't imagine what would be the impression of people who despise him previously..
Happily for us, God is the judge of all. We do not live for human's opinion and we know in everything, we have to be accountable to God Himself, as it is His Words that will judge us ultimately.
Would like to know your views regarding this.
Some Questions too:
i) How do we prevent ourselves from falling into this judgemental attitude?
ii) Is it true that the life-style of one would determine his/ her physical expression very much? E.g. like what Dr Tong mentioned, a person who often thanksgiving have a joyful heart and facial expression whereas one who grumbles a lot has a grumpy look. Some people just have the look that one may not like, chinese called 'bu4 shun4 yan3' How do we prevent this?
Certain event calls for a grand attire, like suit and tie and like what you said,we ought to see it as a tool and not be obsessed with it.
Looking forward to your reply. Thks and Take Care.
God Bless,
