Hi, Elder Yong. Totally enjoyed the sermon given by Dr Tong yesterday, 16th Feb regarding Marriage. Indeed, it was well-said and in Truth.
Had this question to seek your opinion:
1) Are Bible verses in Scripture in an order, as in order of importance or order of significance? Here are some examples i can think of:
i) Fruits of Holy Spirits: Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control.
ii) Jesus teachings of 'ba1 fu2'
iii) we are to love God wholeheartedly: 'jing4 xin1, jing4 yi4, jing4 li4'
iv) In all things, 'qian1 xu1', 'wen1 rou2', 'ren3 nai4' in book of Ephesians (if i remembered correctly.. sorry, now do not have a Bible at hand)
2) Is there a change in meaning theologically if we swopped the position of the verses with one another? Can give an example?
3) How do we know if a particular verse has an order of significance in it so that we can better appreciate the beautiful mystery of the WORD that the author is trying to bring out? Can give an example?
Thanks. Looking forward to your reply and seeing you and Dr Tong in 'action' for the Truth at NTU on Thursday and Friday, 20th Feb, 21th Feb.
God Bless,
