Thank you Elder Yong for your reply on my earlier question. It has certainly given me fresh insights into the mystery of the bible. The principle of progressive revelation has changed the way I would read and understand the word of God. The principle is seemingly simple and fundamental but I find myself to be lacking and am in dire need of guidance from the Holy Spirit and enlightened teachers like you! =) Once again, thank you.
This brings me to my next question. How should we read the bible? Do we read it in context or without? Would reading the bible in context all the time limit God’s individual revelation to us? How does God choose to reveal his word to us? Does God choose to use or exact certain scriptures during our reading to speak to us on certain personal issues during certain time of our lives? Some scriptures were exacted by some pastor/teachers and its meaning extrapolated to reveal additional meaning/revelation (which they claim are from God). To test its truthfulness, we need to check whether it is consistent with God’s Word in the entire bible. But there are times when the bible did not mention about that topic specifically. Should we test it by using general biblical principles or reject it outright?
Sorry for the cluster of questions but I thought they might be related.
T.I.A for your insights.
