Interesting question.

First of all, our LORD Jesus Christ was clearly NOT a vegetarian. He ate fish, and as a Jew, certainly lamb as part of the various festivals.

Biblically, ALL animals are subsevient to mankind, so the consumption would be logical. Recent developments in vegetarianism have argued based on design, health benefits, etc; but none can be considered as conclusive or final. Clearly we were made to be omnivorious, eating both plants and animals; or scripture would clearly instruct us to be vegetarians (like the Buddhist scripture does).

The problem is that we are all not discipline in the area of diet. I am actually answering you while on vacation in the US, and the number of severely obese people on the street is simply staggering. Gluttony was considered one of the seven deadly sins in medieval times, and I believe that we need to exercise self-control in the way we eat. When a person gets ill because of bad eating habits, it can be considered as a result of sin...
